Biden Finally Calls DeSantis Ahead Of Hurricane Ian
Joe Biden spoke to the mayors of Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater ahead of Hurricane Ian.
Oddly, Biden had yet to talk to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
President Joe Biden appeared reluctant to speak directly Florida governor Ron DeSantis (R) as the federal government prepares for Hurricane Ian.
Biden revealed Tuesday afternoon that he spoke with the mayors of Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater in preparation for the storm.
“I told each one of them, whatever they need contact me directly,” he said at the White House but made no mention of DeSantis.
After reporters began asking Biden finally ended up calling DeSantis.
President Biden spoke this evening with Governor DeSantis of Florida to discuss the steps the Federal government is taking to help Florida prepare for Hurricane Ian. The President and the Governor committed to continued close coordination.

The DeSantis team blasted Joe Biden for claiming vaccination is a vital part of hurricane prep.
This is a strange and puzzling assertion from @POTUS.
Governor DeSantis and Florida's world class emergency management & first responders are ready to help all Floridians impacted by #HurricaneIan, regardless of vaccination status. https://t.co/ui08DDuBXH
